Around the Moon continues the remarkable lunar adventure begun in From the Earth to the Moon. After being launched from an enormous cannon in Florida, three daring travelers—Impey Barbicane, Captain Nicholl, and the eccentric Frenchman Michel Ardan—journey through space aboard a projectile bound for the Moon. As they drift farther from Earth, the men confront the wonders and dangers of the cosmos, witnessing meteor showers, weightlessness, and breathtaking views of the lunar surface.

Rather than landing directly on the Moon as intended, the travelers are drawn into orbit around it, allowing Verne to vividly imagine craters, mountains, and mysterious lunar landscapes decades before real space exploration became possible. Alongside scientific speculation, the novel explores friendship, courage, and humanity’s restless desire to conquer the unknown.

Blending adventure with humor and surprisingly accurate scientific ideas, Around the Moon showcases Verne’s visionary imagination and his fascination with technological progress. The novel remains one of the earliest and most influential works of science fiction, inspiring generations of readers, inventors, and explorers with its thrilling depiction of mankind’s voyage beyond Earth.
