Blue Hand is a fast-paced mystery thriller centered on intrigue, hidden identities, and a looming inheritance. The story follows Jim Steele, a young clerk working for a London solicitor, who becomes entangled in a dangerous case involving the wealthy Danton family. With the presumed deaths of Lady Mary Danton and her infant daughter years earlier, a vast fortune is about to fall into the hands of the sinister Digby Groat.
As Jim investigates, his personal life becomes intertwined with the mystery when his beloved Eunice takes a position in the Groat household and begins receiving terrifying warnings marked by the symbol of a blue hand. Suspicion deepens as secrets about Eunice’s past emerge, and unsettling connections link her to the long-lost Danton heir.
Combining suspense, romance, and sharp twists, the novel builds toward a dramatic resolution in which truth, identity, and justice collide. Wallace’s signature pacing and atmosphere make this a classic example of early twentieth-century British crime fiction.
Quote from the book—
