The Case with Nine Solutions by J. J. Connington is a cleverly constructed Golden Age detective novel that invites readers to unravel a baffling mystery alongside a meticulous investigator. When a suspicious death raises more questions than answers, every clue seems to point in a different direction, and every suspect appears to have both motive and opportunity. As the investigation unfolds, the evidence supports not one explanation but several, forcing the detective to test each theory against the facts with careful logic and scientific precision. Connington masterfully blends forensic detail, psychological insight, and fair-play clueing, encouraging readers to weigh the possibilities before the final revelation. Rather than relying on dramatic twists alone, the novel builds suspense through methodical deduction, unexpected connections, and the gradual elimination of false leads. Richly atmospheric and intellectually satisfying, The Case with Nine Solutions showcases Connington's talent for creating intricate puzzles that reward close attention. Fans of classic British detective fiction, especially those who appreciate carefully reasoned mysteries in the tradition of the Golden Age, will find this novel an engaging and rewarding read from beginning to end.
