The Maracot Deep is a short science fiction novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, published in 1929. Professor Maracot and his team, embark on an exploration to investigate the Maracot Deep, a trench in the deepest part of the Atlantic. Their submersible is unexpectedly cut loose during an encounter with a strange giant sea creature, sending them to the bottom of the ocean. On the Ocean floor, they discover the hidden city of Atlantis, inhabited by a technologically advanced civilization. Facing a powerful and mysterious figure known as the Lord of the Dark Face, who threatens the existence of the city as well as the newcomers, the explorers eventually send messages to the surface, hoping to be rescued.
