David Herbert Lawrence (1885–1930), better known as D. H. Lawrence, was one of England's most influential novelists, poets, essayists, and short story writers. Born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, he drew heavily on his working-class upbringing to explore themes of love, industrialization, human relationships, and individual freedom. His best-known novels include Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love, and Lady Chatterley's Lover.
