Ronald Arbuthnott Knox (1888–1957) was an English Catholic priest, theologian, translator, detective novelist, and broadcaster. Educated at Eton College and Balliol College, Oxford, he initially served as an Anglican clergyman before converting to Roman Catholicism in 1917 and later being ordained a Catholic priest. Knox became renowned for his ingenious Golden Age detective stories featuring investigator Miles Bredon and for his influential "Ten Commandments" of detective fiction, which promoted fair-play mysteries. Beyond fiction, he produced the acclaimed Knox Bible translation and numerous religious works. His wit, scholarship, and logical storytelling continue to earn readers worldwide.
